He hates this photo! My good friend Duncan Fisher is opening a new bar/gastropub in Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne. Called "As You Like It ", it aims to bring a bit of the country to the city, or so the marketing blurb says.It is located opposite another member of the Fisher empire, which is the student-friendly retro pub called Mr Lynch. The opening is on Sunday March 11th, 2007. Unfortunately I missed the opening but next time I am back in the North East no doubt I will take a wander across to those parts and will write a review once I get a chance to sample the delights. This is always a handy bar whenever I stop overnight in Bristol. Usually it is to sleep overnight on the padded floor of the converted church opposite which is now a martial arts centre. The Hope and Anchor sits half way down Jacobs Wells Road in Clifton, Bristol. The post code is BS8 1DR if you have a SatNav. They have a good range of beers and lagers, and the food is really good for such a small place. There is also cider for you West Country bumpkins or wanabees. Don't sit too near the door as it is always one drafty place, and mind the cat as I accidentally stood on it when I went there last time. Felt so sorry and guilty. Oops. Add a Comment |

Zander Bar is a bar located in Buckingham Gate, St James/Westminster. It adjoins the impressive 100-year-old St James hotel (now a Crown Plaza). The contrast between the two places could not be greater – large grand wood panelled open spaces in the hotel and small tightly packed drinking compartmentalised areas with low ceilings and lighting to match in the bar.
