After splashing out on goodies from two local Aldi stores in Bournemouth and Boscombe we had a bit of an Aldi Christmas dinner.
Pan fried scallops with button mushrooms with garlic and lemon, on rocket salad and cherry tomato. Warm langoustine. (The seafood was frozen stuff. The scallops were large ones and pretty good. The langoustines were better than the ones I have had from Tesco but havingbeen used to eating huge bags of these since a child, they were always going to disappoint slightly but in fairness they weren't too bad considering.) The main course was Aldi boil in the bag. Well that was just one way of cooking the lamb shanks. All the top chefs are doing it anyway as it keeps the flavour in and doesn't dry the meat out. Finished off in the oven and was very good, although slightly too sweet and cloying. No room for dessert.
