Business trips to London

This is probably not appropriate for all but it worked out great for me.

Basically I need to be in London for Monday morning but I was going to be near there anyway so I decided to stay overnight in a hotel to save an early train from Bournemouth.

As I was driving, having hotel I could easily get to, park there for the next day whilst I get a tube into London and then easy for driving out again, would be great. I did some searches and found that the Ramada Jarvis hotel in Ealing was ideal.

After doing all the price comparisons, booking from the hotel's own site worked out the cheapest. This is not always the case but definitely in this case. It was £42.50 for a single room with breakfast for the Sunday night. Some sites showed £46 whilst others were £100+.

Driving there is painless, although the traffic on the North Circular is pretty horrendous, it it isn't too far until you just turn off from the madness and the hotel is just there. Around the corner is the Ealing Common tube, that is on the Piccadily line, which can take you pretty much to the centre. For some reason my friend told me to walk about 15-20 minutes the other way and get on at West Acton. I wouldn't advise that as it was too far to walk and I was a bucket of sweat by the time I got there!

Being able to leave the car in and take a tube into town has its benefits. No extortionate parking fees, but I think from November they might be starting to make a small charge.

Getting out of London and onto the M25 is a piece of cake as well.
