Post Office Travel
Written by Gordon Fong
Wednesday, 11 October 2006

The Post Office has some deals on travel insurance and commission free currency exchange.

One strange thing that I found when I visited the Post Office to get some Euros was that I could only exchange physical cash. They would not let me use a debit card for payment. I then had to use the debit card to get some money out, from the same counter person, they handed it over to me, I then handed it back. Oh what fun, and delay to everybody else queuing up behind me.

Barn under a wandering star

217 Jesmond Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Tel: 0191 281 7179.

This restaurant is preceded by a good reputation. A friend of mine, Duncan Fisher who owns the Apartment and Mr Lynch bars in Newcastle took me there last time I was up North. (Incidentally he has now added "As you like it " to the list, which is a new fangled gastropub bringing the country to the city. Ha!)

Bruno (aka Borat) and Spring Break dudes

This is so, so funny, just cracks me up!

The funniest bit is at the end. Just watch the guy's reaction when all is revealed.

Borat/Bruno on Daytona Beach

It is not Borat but rather his Bruno alter-ego that is in front of the camera.

Launch of Original 106 FM
Written by Gordon Fong
Friday, 29 September 2006

I've caught test transmissions of a new commercial radio station called Original 106 that is due for launch this coming Sunday 1st October at 11am. It was a good range of music they played. Hopefully being a test transmission that it wasn't someone's personal iPod of favourite tunes and actually reflects what they are likely to play.

The station covers from Poole and Bournemouth to Winchester and the Isle of Wight.

Some of the other local stations just have too much cheese for my liking. Cheese should be on pizzas and not the radio.
