Wagamama Me and Angela went on the first preview night before the real opening for paying customers on Wednesday. The site of the former MVC video and music shop has been transform into a bright and airy Wagamama restaurant. The huge clear glass windows at the front revealed a place full of people easting away. The lighting was well done so that was not over-empowering and the crisp interior design made it all very slick and modern inside.
We had duck gyoza and ebi katsu. There was lots of duck inside the deep fried dumplings. The ebi katsu was a bit too fried on the outside and the prawn looked just a little bit undercooked. It didn't look like they had many problems on this trial run. I had the ebi kare lomen, which is prawns with curried noodles in soup. I was glad for the air conditioning which reduce the curry sweat-on to be pretty manageable. Angela had the yaki udon which she couldn't finish as she was too full but was nice all the same. Thanks to Martyn for looking after us and I got another bottle of Asahi Black thrown in for good measure. Overall, it is up to the usual standard of this chain, as you would expect. This place will go down a storm here in Bournemouth down in Dorset. I would say though, if you are going to have an opening night and give people cards to fill in, then best to have pens nearby for people to use. Powered by AkoComment! |
