Aldi Having been lured into Aldi by their 39p advertising I began on the carrots, sprouts and lemons for 39p a pack. Who else gets bloody cheesed off at Tesco charging 30p for one lemon whilst Aldi can do it for 39p for a bag of 5? No wonder the poor have scurvy and I have to miss out on the 'slice' for my G&T.
Having been a fan of Lidl for a while and their European meat selection I thought Aldi had even better stuff available. Garlic sausage, salami, tapas and the lot.
My downfall came in the frozen foods section. Bloody marketing. Actually I was very satisfied with my box of langoustines, huge scallops, duck legs in orange source, duck legs in plum source, lamb shanks and beef ribs in red wine. All very gourmet it seems. Should make for a tasty Christmas. Anyway, I hate Christmas so some yummy food and nice wine will take the edge off! £50 I spent. What credit crunch, more like credit munch! Add a Comment |

The duty free limit has been raised from £18 to about £105 for items bought from outside the EU. BBC News page on Duty Free Allowance This should make buy a bargain or two a bit less fraught with the disk of getting a hefty surprise to pay once it lands into the UK. Should also mean when you buy a few cheap CDs from Jersey or Hong Kong that they come together instead of as separate items that was done to beat the previous limits.
Comes into effect Dec 1st, 2009, so don;t rush just yet.

I managed to find a bargain from DABS.com in the shape of a Digihome PVR. I thought for the price of £50 I could give this little box a try which was cheaper than my Sony Freeview box and has twin tuners, hard disk recording and picture in picture. Add a Comment |

The web site for www.mountfuji.co.uk is great for ordering Japanese food and gifts online and getting them delivered straight to your door. Great for real Japanese Green Tea but their mixed beer bundle is good value as well, which includes a dark beer by Asahi that I love. It reminds me a bit of the Czech dark beer . Add a Comment |

I have used Amazon since its start in the UK. Never had any problems with them and prices have been general great across the board. Our company is a reseller through the likes of Ingram Micro and I regularly find that buying from Amazon is cheaper that buying through the big distributors as a reseller! The problems I have are with delivery and recently one of their couriers did take a long time. Not Amazon's fault as they offer to send out a new package, very quickly and no questions asked.
